How Often Should You Detail Your Car in Connecticut?

Connecticut drivers deal with a tougher mix of conditions than a lot of the country: salted winter roads, humid summers, and plenty of pollen in between. All of that takes a toll on paint, trim, and interior surfaces faster than owners often expect.

A simple seasonal rhythm

As a general guideline, most daily-driven vehicles do well with a full detail every 8–12 weeks, with lighter exterior washes in between. That said, your ideal schedule depends more on how and where you drive than on the calendar alone.

  • Winter (December–March): Road salt is the biggest threat to paint and the undercarriage. An exterior wash every 2–3 weeks helps rinse salt before it sits on metal surfaces.
  • Spring (April–May): Pollen and road grime build up fast. A full detail after the heaviest pollen weeks resets both the interior and exterior.
  • Summer (June–August): UV exposure fades interiors and breaks down wax or sealant faster. A protective exterior finish helps the paint handle the sun.
  • Fall (September–November): Leaves, sap, and the start of road treatment make this a good time for a full detail before winter sets in.

Signs you're overdue

Beyond the calendar, a few signs are hard to miss: water no longer beads on the paint, the interior has a lingering odor, or dust seems to reappear within days of a quick wipe-down. Any of these usually means it's time for a full detail rather than a quick wash.

The cheapest way to protect a vehicle's value is consistent care, not occasional deep cleans.

If you're not sure where your vehicle falls, a quick message with your driving habits (commute length, garage vs. street parking, kids or pets) is usually enough for us to suggest a schedule that fits.
